Burg Hohen Neuffen

We visited this Castle last weekend, about 45 minutes away. It is the largest fortress/castle left in southern Germany. This was really used in a number of battles. Starting in the 13th century. Used as a prison in the late 1800's and then a Nazi outpost more recently. Pretty cool.

Walls are at least 6 feet thick from what we saw. Some of it has been restored. It's about a 20 minute walk in from the parking lot.

3 of 4 sides of the castle looks down onto the farms surrounding. Great views. Elli and Abby were troopers. IT was a nice clear day but still a bit cold. There is a restaurant in part of the castle and they luckily for Sally had a public restroom.
